Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance department conducted raids here on Saturday on various establishments of the absconding former assistant director of the Directorate of Factories & Boilers Dr. Motilal Gouda. According to the sources, Vigilance sleuths conducted raids at various places across the State including his ancestral home at Chandipur village under Mohana block in Gajapati district.
The Vigilance department sprang into action after the state anti-corruption wing received a formal request from the Labour and ESI Department to probe into alleged fraud committed by Dr. Gouda.
Dr. Gouda was suspended from service by the state government on charges of issuing fake gazette notification ordering engagement of five private labs for pre-employment health check-up of factories and industries. Prior to that Gouda was serving as a Medical officer in the state government’s health department and was sacked from his job in November 2015 on the charges of unauthorised absence from duty for a longer period of time.
Dr Gouda is absconding for over a fortnight and his plea for an anticipatory bail was rejected by the Orissa High Court on June 24.
