New Delhi: The Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi will chair a review meeting with the Secretaries of the Central Ministries on key development issues of the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected states, here on June 24. The Chief Secretaries of 7 LWE affected states Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana and Maharashtra will also attend the meeting. The Union Home Minister will take the review meeting on a later date.
The Ministries/Departments participating in the meeting include Department of Telecom, M/o Road Transport & Highways, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of School Education & Literacy, Department of Financial Services, Department of Posts, Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has adopted a multi pronged strategy which inter alia includes security related interventions, development measures, ensuring rights and entitlement of local communities etc. Special projects such as construction of roads, installation of mobile towers and construction of Fortified Police Stations etc. have been sanctioned by the Government of India. The development works are implemented through the states and relate to various schemes/programmes of the development ministries of the Government of India.
