Bhubaneswar: Prior to the Nabakalevara festival to be held in Jagannath temple at Puri in 2015, government of Odisha on Monday reviewed the security arrangements of the temple and its surroundings. Additional chief secretary U N Behera in charge of the home department held a meeting and reviewed the security measures.
After deliberations in the meeting the state administration has decided to install additional CCTV cameras in and around the temple premises to strengthen vigil. Notably, Soumendra Priyadarshi, IG, Intelligence had visited the temple last month and after taking stalk of the temple security had suggested for the installation of 32 CCTV cameras.
The Jagannath temple administrator Dr Arvind Padhee talking to reporters after the meeting said that the administration has decided to install 32 CCTV cameras in and around the Jagannath temple, Puri and a request has already been made to the Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation for the installation.
He further added that traffic, parking facilities and mobile toilet issues and its financial implications and setting up these facilities before the festival was also discussed in the meeting.
