Odisha: BJD Holds Mahila Samavesh; CM Patnaik Promises to Strengthen Women Economically

Bhubaneswar: Four days after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a “Jan Jagran Maha Samavesh” in Bhubaneswar, the Naveen Patnaik led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government here today on Tuesday held a State-level ‘Mahila Samavesh’ under the Panchayati Raj Department to woo voters prior to the upcoming panchayat elections early next year.

Addressing the gathering Chief Minister Patnaik said the State government has decided to double the credit limit for self-help groups (SHGs) from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1000 crore from the current year. He also added that it will double the double the income of the women in the State.

The samavesh organised as a part of the ongoing Biju Patnaik Centenery celebration, Patnaik empahsised that development of women will help with the overall growth of society and equal participation of woman will facilitate in building the State. Patnaik also said mothers in our society are placed in high pedestal and their sacrifices remain unmatched.

Reacting to the announment made during “Mahila Samavesh” BJP on Tuesday attacked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik about enhancement of loan for SHGs. The party pointed out that the loan is provided by NABARD and Central Government.
