Bhubaneswar: Agni-V, the surface-to-surface nuclear capable ballistic missile was test fired from launch pad no 4 at 11.05 am on Monday from Wheelers island also know as Abdul Kalam Island in Bhadrak district of Odisha as reported by various government sources. The 17 meter long missile and 2 metre in width has been developed by DRDO and has the capability to 50000 kg weight.
According to defence experts the Agni-V missile has capabilities to target northern parts of China many other parts of Asia Europe and Africa continents.
President Pranab Mukherjee tweeting on the successful test of Agni-V said “Congratulations DRDO for successfully test firing Agni V. It will enhance our strategic and deterrence capabilities. #PresidentMukherjee”.
PM Narendra Modi congratulated the DRDO and tweeted “The successful test firing of Agni V is the result of the hardwork of DRDO & its scientists. I congratulate them. @DRDO_India”.
