North Range RDC begins Probe on Attack on the Convoy of Union Minister

Bhubaneswar: After a lapse of over one month the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), northern range, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma on Thursday began investigation on the incident of attack by alleged BJD workers on the convoy of Union ministers Santosh Gangwar on his way to attend an event. The minister had escaped unhurt in the attack.

During the preliminary inquiry Sharma according to sources has taken statements of 45 persons and also spoke to officials of the district administration present at the spot when the incident occurred.

The incident had drawn widespread criticism from people belonging to all walks of life including politicians from opposition parties.

Sources revealed that notices have also been sent to BJD and BJP activists to present themselves before the RDC. Even police officials, executive magistrate, Collector and SP of Bargarh have also been asked to cooperated with the probe over the issue.

In this connection 16 persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident and are out on bail.
