Bhubaneswar: Fly Dubai and Air Asia have given their schedule to commence international flight operations form Bubaneswar. Fly Dubai will carry on operations from Bubaneswar to Dubai and Air Asia from Bubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur. It was revealed after a meeting was chaired by Odisha chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra in the secretariat here on Monday.
According to sources, the director of Bhubaneswar Airport Sharad Kumar has been asked to expedite the process of approval of the flight schedule with Ministry of Civil Aviation. It has also been decided in the meeting to conduct dry run of international flight operations in the first week of March.
The issues relating to manpower requirement at the airport were discussed and resolved in the meeting. Sharad Kumar said that Government of Odisha has been proactively cooperative in the matter and has all sorts of support along with the manpower required for health, emigration, customs, plant and quarantine services.
The Chief Secretary has advised the Airport Authorities to arrange for immersion training of the personnel deployed for hands on and ground situation training so that they carry on the assigned jobs smoothly. It has been decided that they will be provided one-week training at international airport in Kolkata during the month of February. The software and necessary internet connectivity will also be put in place at the airport during the current month, sources added.
