Tension Grips SOG Camp in Bhubaneswar after Jawan Dies during Training

Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident a jawan of the Special Operation Group (SOG) died in the training camp at Chandaka situated here in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. After the incident a spontaneous demonstration was staged in the camp by fellow jawans undergoing the training.

Sources revealed that the deceased jawan Laxminarayan Pradhan was said to be unwell yet asked to complete a 10 km run. Though he completed the run within the stipulated time yet he collapsed and fainted after reaching the finish line.

Pradhan was said to have been rushed to the Capital hospital after  first aid was administered at the camp. But the doctors declared him brought dead at the hospital, sources added.

The incident sparked resentment among other trainee jawans and they staged a dharna alleging neglect in preliminary treatment after Pradhan fell unconscious.

According to Soumendra Priyadarshi IG (Operations) the cause of death will be ascertained after post mortem. He also added that the family of the deceased will be adequately compensated as per government norms.
