Stung by a Sting Operation, 4 BJD MLAs Lodge FIR

Bhubaneswar: Mired in a bribery controversy four Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLAs have lodged an FIR here in a local police station in Bhubaneswar against a person who pretended to be an industrialist and recorded the sting operation.

The four BJD MLAs Bhawanipatna MLA Anam Nayak , Chhendipada MLA Susant Kumar Behera, Hindol MLA Seemarani Nayak and Karanjia MLA Bijay Kumar Nayak caught on camera alleged in the FIR that it was a set up and a person who claimed to be a representative of an industrial house invited all 4 of them to a meeting.

Accrding to sources, the MLAs in their FIR are said to have alleged that the person had blackmailed and tried to extort money; failing to give him money he released the tape to a local TV channel in order to tarnish the image of the legislators.

In a counter move the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is said to have filed an FIR against the four tainted MLAs demanding action them.

Director Vigilance, Dr R P Sharma has informed the media person on Wednesday that he has ordered a forensic test to verify the authenticity of the tape. He has also constituted 5 investigation teams to probe into the matter.
