Papu Pom Pom’s Bail Plea Rejected; Accused may move Higher Court for Bail

Bhubaneswar: On Monday the comedian actor Tatwa Prakash Patpathy alias Papu Pom Pom and his associate Pradipta Swain alias Gitu were produced before the Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court through video conference for their bail plea on alleged sexual harassment. The hearing took place in the court while the victim minor girl and her parents were also present.

Papu’s Advocate argued the case citing that the victim’s parents were kept in dark when the FIR was lodged against Papu. He further argued that child welfare committee (CWC) also inquired into the case without taking permission of the minor’s parents; therefore, the case had no legal base.

The public prosecutor opposing the bail plea argued that Papu Pom Pom and his associate should be denied bail since there is every likelihood for them to influence the witnesses or tamper with the evidence if granted bail.

Surprisingly the parents of the minor victim remained silent on the issue of the compromise petition filed by them during the previous hearing.

After hearing the argument of both sides the court rejected the bail pleas of Papu Pom Pom and his associated Gitu. Later their counsel informed the media that they will move to the higher Court for bail.
