Odia Girls Dutee and Srabani qualify in 4 x 100 m relay Women’s Team event for Rio Olympics

Bhubaneswar: Indian ace sprinters made India proud as they qualified for Rio Olympics in the 4 x 100 m women’s relay.  The 4 x 100 m relay team, comprising of Dutee, Srabani, HM Jyothi and Merylin Joseph broke their own national record of 44.03 seconds, set in the IAAF World Challenge in Beijing in May this year, by clocking a new national record of 43.42 seconds and qualified for the Rio Olympics at the Kazakhstan National Athletics Championships at Almaty on Monday.

The International Olympic Committee will allow the top 16 teams from across the world who qualifies by July 11 to participate in the Rio Olympic Games. The Indian women’s team edged past France to become the 16th country to enter the games.
