Normal Life Hit after Bandh Called in Cuttack

Cuttack: Protesting against the demolition of religious structure in Cuttack the socio-cultural groups came together and called a dawn-to-dusk bandh/strike. It may be noted that the authorities, after the Odisha High Court had passed the order for demolition of structures on encroached government land, had begun pulling down illegal religious structures which was vehemently opposed by the various groups.

Commercial establishments have been shut down and public transport has been hit due to the bandh. The Cuttack city police have deployed its forces around the city to curb any untoward incident.

More than 200 unauthorized religious structures have illegally come up at various places across the city comprising of over 50 acres of land, said sources from revenue department. It has resulted in choking of roads and creating traffic jams at various places across Cuttack.
