Agni-IV Nuclear Capable Missile test fired successfully off Odisha Coast

Bhubaneswar: Agni-IV, the surface-to-surface with nuclear missile capability was successfully test fired from the Abdul Kalam Island also known as Wheelers Island off the Odisha coast at 11:50 am on Monday.

The 20-metre long missile which weighs around 17 tonnes has the capability to strike at a distance of 4000 kilometres. Developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Agni-IV underwent the fifth successful test and can be launched from a road mobile launcher.

The Minister of State for Defence, Subhash Ramrao Bhamre and Director-General (Missiles and Strategic Systems), DRDO, G. Satheesh Reddy were witness to the test conducted on January 2, 2017.

India Successfully Test Fires Barak-8 Surface-To-Air Missile Jointly Developed with Israel

Bhubaneswar: India today successfully test fired long range Barak-8 surface-to-air missile jointly developed with Israel from a mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur near Balasore at around 10:13 hours.

According to a DRDO official, the trial was successful and some other tests are expected to be conducted shortly.

Earlier in the year between June 30 and July 1, 2016 three consecutive test fires were conducted by DRDO at Chandipur.

LCA “Tejas” Inducted into Indian Air Force; PM Expresses Pride and Happiness

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi today expressed pride and happiness over the induction of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)  Tejas fighter jet into the Indian Air Force. PM Modi also lauded Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) on the induction of Tejas.

“Induction of indigenously made Tejas fighter jet into the Air Force fills our hearts with unparalleled pride and happiness. I laud HAL and ADA on the induction of Tejas fighter jet. This illustrates our skills and strengths to enhance indigenous defence manufacturing”, the Prime Minister said.

The LCA “Tejas” inducted into No. 45 Squadron of Indian Air Force (IAF) on 01 Jul 2016. No. 45 Squadron, also called the “Flying Daggers”, was last equipped with MiG 21 Bis Aircraft and operated from Nalia. It’s motto is “Ajeet Nabha”. The Squadron will operate from Bangalore for nearly two years before it moves to its designated location at Sulur near Coimbatore. It is the first fighter Squadron to be a part of the Southern Air Command of IAF headquartered at Thiruvananthapuram.

Group Captain Madhav Rangachari, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, is the Commanding Officer of Flying Daggers. He flew the inaugural flight of LCA in 45 Squadron today. Apart from operational experience on Mirage-2000 and MiG 21, he also has considerable experience on flight testing of LCA prototypes.

With 45 Squadron commencing operations today, soon the Tejas would be employed to defend the Indian skies.

Second Successful Test Fire of Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile at Chandipur in Odisha

New Delhi: Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) was successfully test-fired for the second time from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur off Odisha Coast at 15:45 hours on Thursday and it hit the target in a different envelope at low altitude. It also met the mission requirements.

Earlier around 08:16 hours on Thursday a Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at the same place.

The MRSAM is jointly developed by DRDO and IAI of Israel for the Indian Air Force. The missile guided by a Radar system and on-board avionics successfully hit a Pilotless target aircraft.

Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile Test Fired at Chandipur off Odisha Coast

New Delhi: Around 08:16 hours on Thursday a Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur on the Odisha Coast.

The MRSAM is jointly developed by DRDO and IAI of Israel for the Indian Air Force. The missile guided by a Radar system and on-board avionics successfully hit a Pilotless target aircraft.

Many Indian industries like BEL, L&T, BDL, TATA group of companies besides other private industries have contributed to the development of a number of subsystems which have been put into use in this flight test. The MRSAM system provides reliable air defence at medium ranges.

Both, Indian and Israel teams participated in the launch campaign. The Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar congratulated DRDO and the Industry Partners for successful demonstration of the Air Defence capability. Secretary Deptt of Def R&D and DG DRDO Dr. S Christopher declared the launch as a major milestone for the IAF towards air defence.
