BJB College Autonomous College Declared Sine Die after Campus Violence

Bhubaneswar: One of Odisha’s premier colleges BJB Autonomous College has been in news for all the wrong reasons over the past few months. Violence, protests and unruly incidents in the college campus has made matters worse for which reason BJB College was closed sine die on Monday here in Bhubaneswar.

According to an office order released by the principal, sine die has been declared till December 30 and the hostel boarders have been asked to vacate the hostels immediately.

The college authorities took the drastic step after there were group clashes in the campus leading to ruckus. Sources added, a dalit student of the Ambedkar hostel was attacked by miscreants within the college campus on Sunday night. In all 3 students were said to be injured and admitted to Capital hospital in the city.

Since September, sine die has been declared twice. Classes had resumed after 15 days sine die in mid October but the situation has not improved which led to another sine die. Repeated violence in the campus and suspension of classes has been affecting the education of students. Involvement of politics within the college campus has led to deterioration in the academics, opine intellectuals.

Odisha: Hi-tech Group Properties to be Confiscated Orders State Government

Bhubaneswar: After the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch had seized the properties of the Hi-Tech Group and recommended confiscation, the Finance department of the Odisha State government on Wednesday ordered the confiscation of properties belonging to the Hi-Tech Group in connection with fraud committed in land deals.

Among the properties seized are the Hi-Tech group’s corporate office at Sahid Nagar, the medical and dental college which the group runs and acres of land that belong to the group in various places in Bhubaneswar. The group had already deposited Rs 63 crores at the Supreme Court which got the Hi-Tech group chairman released on bail. Today’s confiscation as sources reveal is valued at around Rs 100 crores.

UPSC Main Examination to Start from Dec 3

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2016 at 23 Centres from 03.12.2016 to 09.12.2016. The Commission has uploaded the e-Admit Cards on its website at

The commission has also informed that the candidates can download their e-Admit Cards and take a printout from the website. The candidates will also have to produce the printout of their e-Admit Cards at the allotted venue(s) for appearing in the examination.

In case the photograph is not visible or available on the e-Admit Cards, candidates are advised to carry identical photograph for each session along with proof of identity such as Aadhar Card, Voter Identity Card, Driving License, Passport etc. to the venue of the examination. No paper Admit Card will be issued for this examination by the Commission.


Odisha CHSE Announces +2 Exams to begin from March 6

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE)  to informed that the +2 examinations in the State will commence from March 6, 2017.

According to CHSE chairperson Prof Basudev Chhatoi, the practical examinations will be held from January 18 to 25 of the month, while the theory exams of the Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational Education stream will begin from March 6 and end on March 28, 2017. The timings of the exams will be from 10 am to 1 pm on the schedule dates.

Odisha Board of Secondary Education Announces Matriculation Exam Schedule

Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE) on Friday announced the schedule for 10th Board examination for the current academic year 2016-17. According to the schedule the examination will commence on February 28.

The examination dates are:

  • Feb 28 – First language Paper
  • March 3 – Second language (English)
  • March 4 – Third language (Hindi/Sanskrit)
  • March 6 – Mathematics
  • March 8 – Science
  • March 10 – Social Science
